Can the Cherries Stain the White Shirts of the West London Cottagers?

Friday night. Craven Cottage. The floodlights bouncing off the Thames. And Bournemouth rolling in on the back of a 15-match unbeaten run that has the entire Premier League looking over their shoulder.

Fulham in their pristine white shirts. Us in our red and black stripes. It's poetic, really — can the Cherries leave a mark on the Cottagers that won't wash out?

What's at Stake

Everything. Three points here and European football moves from "realistic dream" to "almost certain." Bournemouth sit 6th on 52 points with three games left. Fulham are mid-table with nothing to play for except pride — but that makes them dangerous. No pressure, no fear, nothing to lose.

For us, every point counts. The chasing pack is just 4 points behind. Drop points here and suddenly the final day becomes a nervy mess instead of a celebration.

Fulham's Strengths

Don't be fooled by the mid-table position. Fulham at home are no pushovers:

  • Craven Cottage atmosphere — it's tight, it's loud, and the crowd is right on top of the pitch. Not an easy place to play.
  • Technical midfield — they'll try to control possession and slow the game down, which is the opposite of what Iraola wants
  • Set pieces — they've scored plenty from dead balls this season. Our concentration at corners will be tested.

How We Beat Them

The same way we've beaten everyone else this season: press, transition, chaos.

Fulham want to play pretty football. They want time on the ball. Bournemouth's job is to not give them a single second of peace. Win it high, play it forward, get Kroupi running in behind before their centre-backs can turn. If the press works — and it has all season — Fulham will crack.

Kroupi will be licking his lips. He's on 12 goals and needs just one more to break Robbie Fowler's all-time record for a teenager in their debut Premier League season. What better stage than a Friday night in west London?

Iraola's Send-Off Tour

This is one of Andoni Iraola's final three games as Bournemouth manager. The squad have been playing with an extra edge since his departure was announced — beating Newcastle away and thumping Palace 3-0. They want to send him out with Europe. Every game from here is personal.

Prediction

Fulham will make it awkward for 20-25 minutes. Then the press will suffocate them. Kroupi to score (because of course he will), and Bournemouth to win 2-1 in a game that looks tighter on the scoreboard than it was on the pitch.

Pack after pack of crisps consumed nervously in front of the telly. Refreshing Twitter with shaking hands. That's match day for us Somerset Cherries — and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Come on you Cherries. Stain those white shirts red.
